REAL ID Act

Just learned of the REAL ID Act passed in 2005. Does anyone remember this being reported in the news (granted, it was during Katrina time, but a mention, anything)?

The states are quietly(Montana loudly) revolting. Will never be enforced.

I remember hearing that a good number of states are strongly opposed, but I don't remember hearing that it passed. I was under the impression it had not.

No it passed. The enforcement of it has just been postponed till 2009 and then 2011.

But know if McCain gets in the White House this will become an issue. He is a major proponent of the Real ID act.

Join the Americans who will be rejecting the ID if and when it's enforced in 2011: http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/reject-the-real-id-act
